Through ITU development projects, Australia is working to close the digital divide globally.
Since 2004, Australia has supplemented its annual Member State contribution to the ITU with around an extra $850,000 each year to support development projects in the Asia-Pacific.
These development projects enable telecommunications and ICT capacity-building activities in the region. Current projects include:
- Harnessing ICTs to support the digital economy and an inclusive digital society
- Fostering development of infrastructure to enhance digital connectivity in Asia-Pacific
- Child Online Protection (COP) for Asia-Pacific
- Implementing Asia-Pacific Regional Initiatives 2020–21.
Further information on these projects and others in partnership with the ITU Development Sector are at the ITU website: Our common work with selected partners.
