Australian-funded ITU development projects

Through ITU development projects, Australia is working to close the digital divide globally.

Since 2004, Australia has supplemented its annual Member State contribution to the ITU with around an extra $850,000 each year to support development projects in the Asia-Pacific.

These development projects enable telecommunications and ICT capacity-building activities in the region. Current projects include:

  • Harnessing ICTs to support the digital economy and an inclusive digital society
  • Fostering development of infrastructure to enhance digital connectivity in Asia-Pacific
  • Child Online Protection (COP) for Asia-Pacific
  • Implementing Asia-Pacific Regional Initiatives 2020–21.

Further information on these projects and others in partnership with the ITU Development Sector are at the ITU website: Our common work with selected partners.
