  • Sch 5 Cl 94(d) - the ACMA must conduct and/or commission research into issues relating to internet content and internet carriage services.

  • Sch 7 Cl 114(c) - the ACMA must conduct and/or coordinate community education programs content and internet services in consultation with relevant industry and consumer groups and government agencies.

  • Sch 7 Cl 114(b) - the ACMA must advise and assist parents and responsible adults in relation to the supervision and control of children's access to content services.
  • Sch 7 Cl 114(d) - the ACMA must conduct and/or commission research into issues relating to content services.

  • s 8(1)(g) - the ACMA has the function to make information about matters relating to the telecommunications industry available to the public.
  • s 8(1)(h) - the ACMA has the function to conduct public educational programs about matters relating to the telecommunications industry.
  • s 8(1)(i) - the ACMA has the function to give advice to the public about matters relating to the telecommunications industry.
  • s 8(1)(j)(iv) - The ACMA has such other functions as are conferred on it by the TCPSS Act.

Radiocommunications Act 1992

General

  • s 303 - the ACMA may conduct research into and compile, and publish in any way it thinks fit, information about: allocation and use of spectrum; market demand and prices paid for spectrum; charges fixed by the ACMA, including discounts or exemptions; social, economic and environmental effects of radio transmission; supply, manufacture and operation of devices; standards; and any other matter relating to radiocommunications or radio emissions.

  • s 10(1)(h) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to conduct or commission research into community attitudes on issues relating to programs and datacasting content.

  • s 8(1)(c) - the ACMA has the telecommunications function to report to and advise the Minister in relation to the telecommunications industry.
  • s 9(1)(c) - the ACMA has the spectrum management function to report to and advise the Minister in relation to the radiocommunications community.
  • s 8(1)(d) - the ACMA has the telecommunications function to report to and advise the Minister in relation to matters affecting consumers, or proposed consumers, of carriage services.
  • s 8(1)(f) - the ACMA has the telecommunications function to monitor, and report to the Minister on, all significant matters relating to the licensing of carriers under the Telecommunications Act 1997.
  • s 8(1)(k) - the ACMA has the telecommunications function to monitor and report to the Minister on, the operation of each Act specified in s 8(1)(j) to the extent it is so specified.
  • s 9(1)(i) - the ACMA has the spectrum management function to monitor, and to report to the Minister on, the operation of each Act specified in s9(1)(h).
  • s 10(1)(n) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to inform itself and the Minister on technological advances and service trends in the broadcasting, Internet and datacasting industries.
  • s 10(1)(q) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to report to, and advise the Minister in relation to the broadcasting industry, Internet industry and datacasting industry.
  • s 10(1)(r) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to monitor, and report to the Minister, on the operation of each Act specified in s 10(1)(o) and s 10(1)(p).
