About the Working Group
The Working Group was established by the Department in August 2026 to provide a structured forum for government, industry, workforce and regulatory stakeholders on issues and risks affecting Airservices Australia’s (Airservices) Sydney Airport Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations.
The Working Group:
- Maintains a shared understanding of issues affecting Sydney Airport ATC operations
- Provides feedback on implementation of Airservices’ plans to improve resilience at Sydney Airport ATC
- Identifies emerging risks, issues and practical opportunities for operational resilience, workforce capability and implementation of improvement activities
- Supports coordination and information sharing across the aviation system while maintaining confidence in aviation safety
