Norfolk Island Multipurpose Health Services Facility

The Norfolk Island Multipurpose Health Services Facility Project was established to develop the Initial and Detailed Business Cases which will lead to the Australian Government's approval to provide funding for a new Multipurpose Health Services Facility for the Island. The department has engaged KPMG to assist with the project.

MPS design consultancy process

The current phase of the Norfolk Island Multipurpose Health Services Facility (MPS) project, to support the detailed business case, is stakeholder and community engagement on potential alternative site options for the MPS, in addition to the current NIHRACS site.

We are seeking community feedback on three potential sites, to identify the benefits and challenges for each location. The three shortlisted sites are:

  • The current NIHRACS site
  • The vacant land adjacent to the Norfolk Island Central School, Lot 44A
  • A vacant parcel of land next to the Norfolk Island International Airport.

In the week of 12 July 2021, the Norfolk Island community will have the opportunity to engage with the design team on-island drop-in sessions at the following dates and times, at the South Pacific Resort Hotel (Taylor Road, Burnt Pine):

  • Wednesday 14 July 2021, 9-11am, Whaler’s Conference Room, South Pacific Resort Hotel
  • Wednesday 14 July 2021, 5-7pm Whaler’s Conference Room, South Pacific Resort Hotel
  • Thursday 15 July 2021, 10am-12pm, Whaler’s Conference Room, South Pacific Resort Hotel

These consultations will feed into final site selection, supported by technical site information and logistical considerations. Progression to the construction stage is subject to Government budget and Parliamentary approval processes anticipated to commence in late 2021.

Written feedback can be provided to territories_projects@infrastructure.gov.au.
