The Australian Government has committed $52 million in 2026/27 to the Transport Resilience and Capacity Kickstart (TRACK) pilot program under the National Fuel Security Plan.
The TRACK program was created to provide funding for projects aimed at conserving diesel by shifting freight to more fuel-efficient modes of transport. The program is being delivered over multiple rounds.
Round One
Round one of the TRACK program provides up to $26 million in incentives to move more freight by rail. As well as rail, subsequent rounds will also support more freight in the maritime sector, covering both shipping and ports.
The TRACK program is an application based, merit assessed, competitive program, and round one is open to rolling stock operators registered with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator. Applications must directly address the assessment criteria. Applications for round one opened on 11 September 2026 and close 1 October 2026.
