The Regional Roads Australia Mobile Program (RRAMP) is an Australian Government initiative to improve multi˗carrier mobile coverage on highways and major roads in regional and remote Australia.
Funding for the RRAMP is part of the Better Connectivity Plan for Regional and Rural Australia.
National Program
We are providing $30 million for the National RRAMP to fund projects that deliver multi-carrier mobile coverage on highways and major roads in regional and remote Australia.
We are consulting on the draft Grant Opportunity Guidelines for the National RRAMP. You can provide your feedback on the draft guidelines on our Have Your Say page. Submissions close on 24 July 2026.
The program is expected to open for applications in the third quarter of 2026.
Pilot Programs
We are providing $50 million nationally to state and territory governments to deliver pilot programs to test innovative and novel solutions which increase mobile telecommunications coverage in their jurisdiction. The pilot programs also allow each state and territory to tailor solutions that meet their own needs and priorities.
The pilot programs are testing new ways of:
- approaching the market to deliver solutions;
- identifying roads based on data, need and local priorities; and
- encouraging the market to identify new technology, power, backhaul and connectivity solutions.
The Australian Government’s contribution to each Pilot Program is:
- $10 million to New South Wales
- $8 million to Victoria
- $8 million to Western Australia
- $5 million to South Australia
- $5 million to Tasmania
- $6 million to Northern Territory
- $8 million to Queensland.
Once delivered, the pilot programs will improve safety on our roads, strengthen economic growth, improve social connectivity and support regional development.
