Learn about the various state and territory emergency services in the Triple Zero ecosystem.
When you call Triple Zero (000), the emergency call person (ECP) operator will ask which service you need (police, fire or ambulance) and transfer your call to the emergency service in your state or territory.
In Australia, the protection of life and property is a responsibility of state and territory governments. This includes the provision of emergency service organisations (ESOs) (police, fire and ambulance services). Once a Triple Zero call is transferred, state and territory ESOs manage the call and dispatch the appropriate emergency service. State and territory ESOs may also provide information on what to do in an emergency.
Use the links below to view the ESO websites in your state or territory. This information can help you in an emergency.
