The issue

The Schedules to the Airports (Environment Protection) Regulations 2026 set out key requirements for managing environmental impacts at leased federal airports. These Schedules are being reviewed to ensure they remain fit for purpose and aligned with current national environmental standards and practices. We’re seeking feedback from Airport Lessee Companies (ALCs), airport operator and tenants, environmental regulators, industry stakeholders and community members with an interest in environmental protection at leased federal airports, specifically on:

  • Key updates to specific content in Schedules 1 to 4 to better align with national standards for air, water and soil pollution.
  • Key updates to standards to identify excessive noise.
