This report documents the findings from the latest survey of community attitudes to road safety. The nineteenth in a series of national surveys on community attitudes to road safety was conducted in March and April 2006.

This month's key figures The total number of road deaths in November 2006 was 139 - this is a 12.1% increase from the November 2005 figure. The number of road deaths in 2006 to the end of November is 1,456 - this is a 0.6% decrease from the same 10 month period in 2005.

Managing Driver Fatigue: Quantifying real world performance impairment

Driver fatigue remains a major cause of road accidents worldwide. Research has demonstrated that fatigue is comparable to alcohol in terms of performance impairment and risks to road safety.
