ROVER Release 12 outage period
ROVER will be unavailable from 3 pm to 10.30 pm AEDT on Tuesday 17 November 2026 while we deploy changes to the portal.
You can submit vehicles to the Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) during this time; however, they will not be processed until after ROVER goes live.
Lists of approvals will remain available throughout the outage period. During the system update, search results and individual approval details may take longer than usual to display.
What will change in ROVER Release 12?
- Mapping variants in an RVD: The service brakes, engines, tyres and rims, transmissions, standard equipment and additional equipment sections of an RVD will use dual-panel arrows to select applicable variants.
- Mapping variants to standard and additional equipment items: Users will need to map variants to each standard equipment item in an RVD. The new ‘Update All’ button will let users map variants to all standard equipment items in one action. Users can still map items individually. After the release, users will need to complete the standard and additional equipment sections again for all unsubmitted applications.
- Mapping variants to engines: To change variants mapped to a heavier or lighter mass variation from the tare weight in the engines section of an RVD, users must first delete the variants from the table and then select them again.
- Standard equipment items: For vehicle categories LEP, LEG, MA, MB, MC, MD1, MD2, MD3, NA and NB1, the standard equipment list in the RVD form will be reduced to 4 items: antilock brakes, driver’s airbag, passenger’s airbag and central airbag.
- Varying a vehicle type approval: In the general information section of an RVD, an icon will indicate whether the user has edited, deleted or added each document.
- Motive power field descriptions: Four motive power field descriptions on the RAV and published Model Report approvals will be updated to align with the descriptions in ROVER:
- ICE – Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine
- PHEV – Plug-in Hybrid with Petrol Internal Combustion Engine
- PHEV – Plug-in Hybrid with Diesel Internal Combustion Engine
- PHEV – Plug-in Hybrid with Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine
- Motive power ‘Other’ field: Information entered in the motive power ‘Other’ field of a concessional RAV entry approval application will appear in the downloadable application summary PDF.
- Model Report scope: The engine induction method, and minimum and maximum engine capacity fields will be removed from the post-specification section of the application for electric and fuel cell electric vehicles.
- Revoked approvals: If an authorised vehicle verifier, testing facility or registered automotive workshop approval is revoked, ROVER will cancel any related future payment schedules. It will also cancel any invoices that are not overdue on the date the approval is revoked.
