The nationwide initiative celebrates the growth of women’s football at all levels and acknowledges the important role women play in developing football.
This year's celebrations build on the momentum generated by both the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 and AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026.
The Australian Government is proud to have supported both tournaments which showcased Australia on the global stage, inspired young girls and women from all walks of life to participate in sport, and delivered economic and tourism benefits across the country.
At a local level, the government continues to support women and girls in sport through the $200 million Play Our Way program, a record investment that's supporting grassroots sports initiatives through funding for facilities, participation and equipment.
Football Australia's 2025 National Participation Report shows that women's and girls' participation in football continues to grow, with 231,435 participants across outdoor, futsal and social formats - a 4 per cent increase on 2024.
