On 24 June 2008, the Senate agreed to a motion requiring all Australian Government departments and agencies to produce a list of all appointments made by the Government (through Executive Council, Cabinet and ministers) to statutory authorities, executive agencies, advisory boards, government business enterprises and all other Commonwealth bodies, including the term of the appointment and remuneration for the position.

A Public Interest Certificate (PIC) is a document issued by the Secretary of the department (or their delegate) in accordance with section 22 of the Government Procurement (Judicial Review) Act 2018 [the GP (JR) Act].

A PIC will state that it is not in the public interest for a particular procurement process to be suspended while applications for injunctions are being considered, or complaints are being investigated, under the GP (JR) Act.

Our annual reports inform the Parliament and the Australian public of the department's performance during the preceding financial year, reporting against planned outcomes and performance targets identified in our budget statements and corporate plans.

Our annual reports are prepared in accordance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and addresses the requirements set out in the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014.

Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)

The Department leads Australia’s Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) engagement on transport matters addressed in the APEC Transportation Ministers’ Meeting supported by the Transportation Working Group (TPTWG). We coordinate across Australian government agencies where matters addressed sit outside of the Department’s remit. Other Australian agencies lead APEC engagement where cities, urbanisation, and specific aspects of automotive, maritime and aviation issues are addressed.
