State or Territory: NSW

Community Location: Tapitallee

Description of community needs:

Tapitallee's mobile reception is spotty at the best of times. When the power goes out, which is several time a year, phone and data is strained to the point our phones are un-usable—especially during critical times such as fires etc.

They pay the same payment plans as customers residing in metropolitan/city areas. However, the service is on par of third world. Conversations drop out etc.

Community Location: Eligible parts of Olinda - 3788

Description of community needs:

25% of locations tested in Yarra Ranges were found to have unusable network quality. This area is extremely prone to natural disasters, including bushfires and severe storms.

Mobile network failures caused by mains power outages and insufficient battery back-up impeded emergency response efforts following the June 2021 storm events, when emergency services could not communicate with one-another and residents could not call 000.
