The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) classifies General Aviation (GA) as covering a range of operations that are not commercial air transport services. This includes aerial work (such as agriculture, photography, surveying, search and rescue), instructional flying and recreational flying.

General Aviation Advisory Network

The General Aviation Advisory Network (GAAN) was announced by the Australian Government in October 2016 to provide advice to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport on matters affecting the General Aviation (GA) sector.

I am pleased to advise Queensland has officially commenced delivery of state services on Norfolk Island, with Queensland Health now providing support to the Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Service (NIHRACS).

Thank you for your patience over the past few months, while we worked with Queensland to finalise service delivery arrangements for NIHRACS and the Norfolk Island Central School (NICS).

Following an annual review, electricity fees for the Indian Ocean Territories (IOT) have been updated to align to those in Western Australia (WA).

Following the review, the fees have increased by 1.75% for business, residential, community service, charitable residential and business residential premises. There is no increase to the government supply charges or consumption fees and service fees have not increased.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation across mainland Australia, Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories the Hon Nola Marino is extending the State of Emergency declarations for Christmas Island (CI) and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI) up to 17 March 2022.
