A new way forward to Brisbane 2032

The Australian and Queensland governments have reached a new agreement for Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games venue infrastructure projects.

The Australian Government’s $3.435 billion contribution to the $7.1 billion Games Venue Infrastructure Program has been refined and reallocated to ensure the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Games) are a success.

Both governments will work together to deliver 17 new and upgraded venues across the state, including a new main stadium at Victoria Park.

The stadium will be a 63,000-seat world-class sporting and entertainment venue that will be the home of AFL and cricket in Queensland, and attract major national and international events well into the future.

It will also host the opening and closing ceremonies of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as Games’ athletic events.

The Minor Venues Program has also been revised, and includes new projects such as a National Aquatic Centre, a Toowoomba Equestrian Centre, a para-sport facility at Chandler and an expanded Queensland Tennis Centre.

Procurement opportunities are moving ahead on 4 already-approved Minor Venue Program projects including the Logan Indoor Sports Centre and Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre, and upgrades to the Barlow Park (Cairns) and Sunshine Coast stadiums.

These venue projects will benefit Queensland and the rest of Australia for decades to come.
