The flight paths for the new airport have been carefully considered.

The preliminary flight paths for Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) were assessed for their environmental impact under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) is on track to open in the second half of 2026. 

The new airport is a transformational infrastructure project that will bring employment and business opportunities to the region and meet Sydney’s growing aviation needs.

The airport will operate curfew-free to deliver international and domestic passenger and freight services and help meet Sydney's growing aviation needs.
