Credit card ban
Online wagering service providers are banned from accepting credit cards, credit-related products (e.g. digital wallets) or digital currencies (e.g. cryptocurrency) as payment methods. These requirements commenced on 11 June 2024.
This brings online wagering in line with land-based gambling regulations, where credit card use is already banned.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has responsibility for overseeing compliance with the credit betting ban.
