Priorities include:
- Delivery of the airspace design for the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) airport.
- Implementing the Aviation White Paper and its 56 initiatives to guide the next generation of growth and innovation in the aviation sector.
- Supporting the establishment of the Aviation Industry Ombuds Scheme including the delivery of an Aviation Customer Rights Charter.
- Providing international aviation policy advice, negotiating international air service agreements, overseeing Australia’s Permanent Mission to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and coordinating international aviation programs.
- Developing and implementing policy and programs for emerging aviation technologies, including drones and advanced air mobility.
- Delivering programs which support connectivity to regional and remote Australian communities, and enhance the safety and accessibility of airports and aerodromes.
- Providing policy and regulatory advice on the 21 operational federally leased airports across Australia.
