Training to upskill local service providers, tradespeople, business and individuals who would like to know more about applying for government contracts and how to develop strong proposals to government will be run later this month.
The training sessions will focus on providing practical information, advice and experience on how to successfully respond to an approach to market (the public listing of a government contract) and meet Commonwealth procurement guidelines. This training will be available at no cost to Norfolk Island residents.
The Australian Government has contracted McGrathNicol to provide the training for local community members, businesses and individuals. McGrathNicol has a strong track record of advising and managing major procurement projects. Their business focus is on ensuring procurements comply with government policy.
It has been encouraging to see so many local businesses and tradespeople working on upgrades at the school, Cascade Pier and NIHRACS. A priority of the Australian
Government is to continue to find ways to increase local opportunities with government, both on Norfolk Island and in regional parts of mainland Australia.
I would encourage anyone who is interested in working with the government to consider coming along to a session.
The training will run throughout the first week of August at Governor's Lodge on Queen Elizabeth Avenue.
Two evening sessions will run for 90 minutes each beginning at 5pm and 7pm on 1, 2 and 3 August. People are also welcome to drop in from 9am-4.30pm on 2 and 3 August, and from 9am-12 noon on 4 August.
