About the program
The Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) supports the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver social benefits in communities across Australia by funding projects in each of the 150 Federal electorates. The program provides grants for community projects to strengthen and benefit local communities and is part of the Government’s 2026-27 Budget Initiatives.
The program provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 to community organisations and local governments for infrastructure projects that deliver social benefits for local communities. Projects are selected by Members of Parliament and their community consultation committees and are then submitted to the government for assessment.
The program has been very successful, with a wide variety of projects funded to strengthen local communities and deliver social and economic benefits across Australia. The SCP has committed funding to over 20,800 community–based projects across Australia.
Round 10
Round 10 of the SCP opened on 21 September 2026. Up to $22.5 million is available under Round 10, with $150,000 in funding available per federal electorate to support infrastructure projects that provide social benefits for local communities.
Applicants must be invited to apply by their local Federal Member of Parliament. Members of Parliament are required to establish a community consultation committee, or consult an existing committee, to identify and nominate projects for consideration.

Previous rounds
Funding of up to $183.7 million was available under the Rounds 1 to 9 of the SCP from 2015–16 to 2025-26, all of which have now closed.
