COVID-19 - Update for Jervis Bay Territory - stay at home orders

Relevant: Jervis Bay Territory residents and visitors

Topic: Restrictions for Jervis Bay Territory

To protect residents from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, the Jervis Bay Territory (JBT) is currently in lockdown.

The lockdown commenced at 5pm on 14 August 2021, in line with the stay-at-home orders which now apply to all people who live in regional New South Wales (NSW).

The lockdown is currently in place until 12.01am Sunday 22 August 2021, but this may change as the COVID-19 situation continues to develop. The stay-at-home orders for the JBT will continue until the NSW Government lifts the lockdown on the Shoalhaven local government area (LGA). All JBT residents are encouraged to ensure they stay up-to-date with the latest public health directions for the Territory.

Under the stay-at-home orders, JBT residents are now unable to leave their home without a reasonable excuse, which only includes:

  • Shopping for essential household items
  • Medical care and caregiving, including receiving your COVID-19 vaccination
  • Outdoor exercise with members of your household or one other person
  • Work if working from home is not possible, and the business is allowed to be open.

Travel between the JBT and the Shoalhaven remains allowed, provided people have a reasonable excuse for leaving home.

All hospitality venues are closed to the public, including pubs, restaurants and cafes, except for takeaway. You must take food home to eat. Service stations, banks, post offices, laundromats and drycleaners can remain open.

JBT residents are asked to keep children home from school and daycare if possible. The school and daycare will remain open for those children whose families are unable to keep them home during the lockdown.

This lockdown is important to stop COVID spreading in our community. Please stay home unless you have to leave. This is the best way to keep your loved ones safe and making the lockdown as short as possible.

JBT residents are reminded practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene, and get tested if you have COVID symptoms.
