Australia’s aviation safety system plays a vital role in ensuring that we have a safe, efficient and competitive aviation industry. Australia will continue to seek closer alignment with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices and adopt international best practices in its aviation safety system.

Following its publication in October 2024, Section 1.5 of the State Safety Programme has been updated to clarify the roles and responsibilities of Australian aviation agencies during national aviation-related emergencies. The SSP now includes a new Appendix C which is also available as a standalone document, available at the link below.
