We are consulting on the proposed legislative instrument that will give effect to the “My Feed, My Way” initiative.
The initiative, announced by the Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Anika Wells, on 12 September 2026, will require social media services to provide Australian logged-in users with a choice of whether they want to see algorithm-recommended, or following-only content in their feeds.
The Online Safety Amendment (Digital Duty of Care) Bill 2026 (Digital Duty of Care Bill) allows the Minister for Communications to require specified online services to provide the “user empowerment tools” that enable this choice. It also gives the Minister the ability to set requirements for how user empowerment tools function.
We are currently seeking feedback on the draft legislative instrument that will give effect to the “My Feed, My Way” initiative. You can have your say by making a submission through our website before 11.59pm (AEDT) on Friday 5 November 2026.
