The Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program is delivering major safety upgrades across Queensland’s Wide Bay Burnett region.
Safety upgrades at the Bruce Highway and Barton Road intersection at Kolonga, north of Gin Gin, are now complete.
The project included dedicated left and right-turn lanes that make it safer to turn on and off the road. As well as other safety upgrades that improve visibility at the busy intersection.
Additional projects are underway across the region. This includes works at the nearby Bruce Highway and Kalpowar Road intersection. As well as procurement for planned upgrades at the Bruce Highway and E Claxton Road and Rickards Road intersection.
The projects form part of the $9 billion Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program, jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments to improve safety, reliability and connectivity along the Bruce Highway.
To date, 18 projects have been completed and 47 are underway at various stages across the corridor between Gympie and Cairns. A further 52 tenders are expected to be released to market this financial year.
