Help shape the draft standards to improve air travel accessibility in Australia.
People with disability encounter many barriers along the air passenger journey.
The Australian Government is introducing new aviation disability standards (the standards) to address these barriers and has now released a public consultation paper seeking your feedback.
The standards are a major initiative to protect the rights of people with disability, as part of the Aviation White Paper: Toward 2050.
The standards outline clear requirements for airlines and airports on their legal responsibility to provide accessible air travel and affirm the rights people with disability have during air travel.
People with disability co-designed options for the standards in consultation with industry to improve passenger experience.
Co-design workshops were held in July and August 2025 to hear lived experiences and identify options for whole of journey standards. These options are outlined in the consultation paper.
We want to hear your views on whether the standards achieve the right balance and meet your expectations. We also want you to advise your preferred options to guide implementation.
You can make a written submission or complete a short survey. You can also make a submission in an accessible format tailored to you by emailing AviationAccessibility@infrastructure.gov.au or calling on 1800 621 372.
