Applications are open for $50 million in funding for cycleways and walking paths across Australia.
The Australian Government has opened Tranche 2 of the Active Transport Fund, with $50 million available for new or upgraded bicycle and walking pathways across Australia.
State and territory governments and local councils can apply for up to $5 million in funding through the program, for projects that support active transport.
The funding will make it easier and safer for people to walk and ride, promoting healthier and more liveable communities.
This funding builds on the $100 million already supporting more than 80 active transport projects nationwide.
The program is part of the government’s work to improve road safety for vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, under the National Road Safety Strategy 2021–30.
Applications close Wednesday 30 September 2026 at 5:00 pm AEST.
