Better connectivity for communities across North West Queensland

Families, businesses and visitors will benefit from improved Wi-Fi access through the Regional Connectivity Program (RCP).

Around 600 households and businesses are able to access faster and more reliable internet thanks to the completion of the RCP Gigabit Towns Project.

The project has provided fixed wireless connectivity, including free public Wi-Fi access, across a large area of North West Queensland. Communities that will benefit from the project include:

  • Richmond
  • Julia Creek
  • Karumba
  • Normanton
  • Croydon, including surrounding properties and farms.

The Australian Government contributed over $2.2 million towards the project, along with contributions from the Queensland Government and Wi-Sky Queensland.

The RCP is part of the Better Connectivity Plan for Regional and Rural Australia, which is driving productivity and improving equity for regional and rural communities.
