Funding under the third tranche of the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program will go towards road upgrades in New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria.
Projects will include a range of upgrades such as:
- improving road safety through the realignment of roads, shoulder sealing, new signage, safety barriers, intersection upgrades and median changes
- widening and sealing roads for improved heavy vehicle access
- replacing and/or strengthening bridges, culverts and causeways
- upgrading roads to improve flood resilience, and
- improving road links between communities to reduce risk of delays or isolation during an emergency.
Out of the 30 new projects to receive funding, 26 will be delivered by local governments, with the remaining 4 delivered by the NSW Government.
