Australia is seeking your support to be re-elected to Part I of the ICAO Council

Australia is a founding member of ICAO and has contributed on the ICAO Council since 1947.

We participated in drafting the Chicago Convention and were one of the first States to ratify it. Since ICAO's beginnings, Australia has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership in international civil aviation and to supporting its development so No Country is Left Behind.

If re-elected, we will continue to work for ICAO Member States by:

  • improving the safety, security and sustainability of the global aviation network
  • strengthening economic development and environmental protections
  • acting as a trusted and honest broker considering the interests of both established and emerging aviation States
  • cooperatively, productively and actively participating in ICAO and investing in ICAO's future
  • providing valuable experience and continued stability on the ICAO Council
  • helping build aviation capability and capacity in the Asia Pacific to ensure No Country is Left Behind.
