Interim arrangements for specialist and enthusiast vehicles and vehicles at least 25 years old

The Australian Government recognises that some stakeholders may be adversely affected by the postponement of the commencement of the Road Vehicle Standards (RVS) legislation.

It is not the Government’s intention to unnecessarily disadvantage businesses or individuals as a result of this decision. The Government is therefore implementing a range of measures to minimise the negative impact of the postponement on affected stakeholders.

This includes enabling access to older vehicles (vehicles that are at least 25 years old) and to specialist and enthusiast vehicles that meet the eligibility criteria under the RVS legislation.

The interim arrangements for the importation of older vehicles, including step-by-step instructions on how to apply, are detailed on the Interim measure: applying to import vehicles older than 25 years page.

Guidance on the interim arrangements for specialist and enthusiast vehicles – and the list of vehicles that have been approved under the arrangements – are available from the Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles page.
