On February 12 2021, the Department published the Reform of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport: Consultation Regulation Impact Statement (Consultation RIS.) The Consultation RIS includes regulatory and non-regulatory reform options for 16 areas of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards). The Consultation RIS will be open for public feedback until April 23 2021. The full Consultation RIS and a summary are available here:

We are seeking public feedback on whether the proposed reform options will improve public transport accessibility for people with disability and whether they will enhance the public transport experience for all Australians. We want to hear from you on the proposed reforms to the Transport Standards and your public transport experiences more generally—whether you have a disability, work in the disability or transport sector, work with or know people who have a disability or are just an interested public transport user.

There are a number of ways for you to have your say and provide input, including:

The public consultation period will close on April 23 2021.
All submissions will be treated as public documents and made available on the reforms website unless:
- the documents are clearly marked as being provided ‘IN CONFIDENCE’; or
- the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications determines that the documents contain private or confidential information.
Please note: Copies of all submissions will be provided to the Attorney-General's Department.
