Australia has a strong record of supporting strong governance arrangements in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). We work to promote principles of good governance through accountability and transparency in the ITU.
A culture of inclusion and transparency is critical for the ITU to achieve the benefits that diversity of perspective can offer. For this reason, we support open document access policies and a culture of consultation and cooperation.
As one of the top ten financial contributors to the ITU, we also place a strong focus on efficient financial management and administrative processes across Union activities. Accountable, efficient use of resources assists to maximise funds available for capacity building activities and improving access to telecommunications in underserviced communities.
