The Parliament is currently considering the Copyright Amendment (Service Providers) Bill 2017 which will make changes to extend Australia’s copyright safe harbour scheme to the education, cultural and disability sectors.
Part 6 of the Copyright Regulations 2017 (Regulations) prescribes procedures which must be undertaken in order to comply with the conditions for safe harbour protection.
We are seeking views on the draft Copyright Amendment (Service Providers) Regulations 2018 (Exposure Draft) which propose minor amendments to ensure newly defined service providers can comply with the requirements in the Regulations.
The consultation paper seeks to assist stakeholders in understanding how the requirements in the Regulations currently apply and to outline the effect of the limited changes in the Exposure Draft.
