Transport Technology Policy

The Department provides advice to the Government on policy issues associated with new transport technologies.

The Department contributes to whole-of-government technology policy through:

  • Supporting involvement in the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council (PMSEIC).
  • Supporting the activities of the Coordination Committee on Science and Technology (CCST).
  • Cooperating with Intelligent Transport Systems Australia (ITSA) to promote the uptake of ITS where appropriate.

In 2005 the Department was the principal sponsor for a major publication Transport Innovation: A New Era for Australia. Copies of this publication are available from the Department by contacting geoff.johnston@infrastructure.gov.au.
