The Aviation Security Training Advisory Group (ASTAG) was originally established in March 2006 to assist the project development by providing strategic input and contribute to the development of the Aviation Security Training Framework (ASTF), now known as the Aviation Security Training Program (ASTP).
Meetings have been held at various critical stages throughout the framework development to review papers and reports, provide feedback and guidance for the development of the ASTP.
Following the development of the ASTP, focus shifted on the development of the training and assessment resources to complement the standards that make up the ASTP. Industry working groups were established to assist and provide guidance during the development of the training and assessment resources. Some ASTAG members were also members of the industry working groups and involved during this phase of the project.
From March to May 2008, ASTAG was involved in providing advice on the implementation options for ASTP. The last ASTAG meeting was held in May 2008 and members agreed that any further advice would be sought through electronic correspondence or via telephone.
At the Aviation Security Advisory Forum (ASAF) held on 13 June 2008, ASAF members agreed that ASTAG would be put on hold until their assistance on aviation security training matters is required.
The Office of Transport Security would like to thank ASTAG members for their advice and support throughout the ASTP project and look forward to working together again in the future.
