Aviation Programs

This page provides links to Aviation Programs undertaken by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. Please follow the links below for details on these programs.

  • The Remote Aerodrome Safety Program is a national program aimed at assisting the upgrade of airstrips for remote and isolated aerodromes to facilitate the provision of non-commercial essential community air services across the nation.

  • Information on funded programs in Adelaide and Sydney for the insulation of residences and certain noise sensitive public buildings in areas of high aircraft noise exposure around the airports.

  • This scheme aims to assist regular public transport and aeromedical services operators with the payment of their Airservices Australia's enroute air traffic control charges.

  • The Remote Air Service Subsidy (RASS) Scheme's objective is to provide communities in remote and isolated areas of Australia with improved access through a regular weekly air transport service for the carriage of passengers and goods (e.g. educational materials, medicines, fresh foods and other urgent supplies). Because of the distances involved and the fact that road access to many of these communities is often cut for several months during the wet season, a regular air service might offer the only reliable means of transport.
