The objective of the Seatbelt for Kids subsidy program is to increase the number of school buses equipped with seatbelts for students in rural and regional areas. The scheme provides up to $10 million per annum to fit seatbelts to new buses or retrofit existing buses.
The following program guidelines are for the information of bus operators who wish to apply for subsidies under the program. These guidelines may be varied by the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government in the future to ensure that the intent of the program continues to be met.
The subsidy
A subsidy of up to $25,000 per bus is available for the installation of seatbelts in school buses.
