Australian Road Deaths Database - Online

The Australian Road Deaths Database provides basic details of road transport crash fatalities in Australia as reported by the police each month to the State and Territory road safety authorities.

Details provided in the database fall into two groups:

  • the circumstances of the crash, for example, date, location, crash type
  • some details regarding the persons killed, for example, age, gender and road user group.

Citations for information derived from this database should include the database name, the webpage, <http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/safety/road_fatality_statistics/fatal_road_crash_database.aspx> and the date of access.

Disclaimer - Information included in this database is the result of a cooperative effort between this department and State Road Safety Authorities. However, all of the data is supplied to the department by these authorities. Data quality, national consistency in particular, is thus dependent upon the efforts of the State Road Safety Authorities in this regard.
