Key Facts for New Drivers

Summary

You're going too fast! Slow down! - Does this sound familiar?

Even though you urge your learner to slow down and you threaten to stop the driving session, they continue to speed.

They slow down for a short time and then start to increase their speed again. They then speed again during the next drive.

This booklet 'Key Facts for New Drivers' contains information developed by the department and the Australian Driver Trainers Association to help inform learner drivers about factors that increase the risk of crashes, and encourages cooperative partnerships between trainers, learner drivers and their parents and family.

Ask your driver trainer for the booklet, and get the real story on:
- how speeding affects your crash risk
- fatigue who is really at risk?
- how much do you need to practise?
- how to drive for the conditions, plus
- advice for those who supervise a learner driver.
