The intent is to make motor vehicles available in Australia which cater for specialist and enthusiast interests. The requirements set out in Regulation 24 and Circular 0-2-12 apply to both new and used motor vehicles but do not apply to trailers (T Group) full volume new vehicles of all categories or full volume used two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles (L Group).
Regulation 24 made under the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989 and the Administrator of Vehicle Standards Circular 0-2-12 describe the requirements regarding the eligibility of motor vehicles for entry on the Register of Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles (the Register) as set out in Regulation 22.
An application for a decision on eligibility must be made on the approved form and if successful the vehicle model will be added to the Register. The Administrator may also make a decision without an application having been made.
