Report of the lpg In-service Vehicle Emissions Study

Further to the National In-Service Emissions (NISE) study a second smaller study was undertaken into emissions from vehicles running on liquified petroleum gas (LPG). For logistical reasons LPG vehicles were not tested in the original NISE study.

A number of important findings came from the study but the principal message remained: for LPG fuelled vehicles substantial emission reductions can be achieved by basic good maintenance practices. The study also demonstrated the benefits of using modern LPG fuel systems technology.

The results of the LPG In-Service Vehicle Emissions study have been published as Supplementary Report No. 1 to the Motor Vehicle Pollution in Australia Report. The attached executive summary provides an overview of the findings of the LPG Study.
