Our current priorities



Providing advice to Parliamentary Secretary the Hon Gary Gray AO MP and the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP;
The East Kimberley Development Package, is a $195 million package to support economic development in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia through investment in social and common use infrastructure. The investments being made under the Package were launched by the Prime Minister on 3 July 2009;
Providing the secretariat for, and policy advice concerning, the Northern Australia Land and Water Taskforce;
The ONA's Townsville and Darwin offices provide local knowledge and contacts and also work on the implementation of a series of Australian Government regional development programs; and
Developing the long term operations of the ONA. Key priorities here include:
- Establishing contacts with other government agencies;
- Building relationships with stakeholders in northern Australia;
- Developing a better understanding of sustainable development issues and priorities in northern Australia; and
- Business planning to identify where the ONA can be most effective.
