Indigenous Communities

While the Department is not a major provider of programs or services to Indigenous Communities, it does have a number of programs which have links to Indigenous issues, such as:

  • Remote Aerodrome Inspection Program

    This program provides aerodrome safety inspection services and technical advice to remote northern Australian indigenous communities that rely on air services.

  • Remote Air Service Subsidy Scheme

    The Remote Air Service Subsidy (RASS) Scheme's objective is to provide communities in remote and isolated areas of Australia with improved access through a regular weekly air transport service for the carriage of passengers and goods.

  • Roads to Recovery

  • Local Government

    The Department provides Commonwealth assistance to develop and support local government and to support planning initiatives across all jurisdictions. Find out more on the Department's Local Government section.
