Stream 2

Stream 2 provides funding for two different types of projects—Economic Infrastructure projects and Regional Infrastructure Planning projects.

Projects that are eligible for consideration for funding from Stream 2—Economic Infrastructure projects include rail, road, ports, airports, energy, communications, water and other critical infrastructure, as well as project development work. Funding of projects will be through the provision of financial assets, primarily capped funding contributions, but could also include other mechanisms such as fee for service, debt or equity.

There is $10 million allocated for Stream 2—Regional Infrastructure Planning projects and this funding is managed by the Department.

Funding from Stream 2 can be provided to a state or territory government and/or a local government and/or a private sector organisation. Stream 2 projects must have partner funding from a state/territory and/or local government and/or private sector organisation.

Infrastructure Australia will source both Economic Infrastructure and Regional Infrastructure Planning projects. Infrastructure Australia will work in conjunction with state, territory and local governments, Commonwealth agencies, Regional Development Australia committees and the resources sector when sourcing Economic Infrastructure projects.

Further information on the sourcing of projects for funding from Stream 2 can be found in the Regional Infrastructure Fund Guidelines which will be available soon.
