National Urban Policy Consultations

To inform the development of the National Urban Policy, the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport in December 2010 released a discussion paper, Our Cities—building a productive, sustainable and liveable future, and an accompanying background and research paper, Our Cities—the challenge of change.

In response to the discussion paper, 230 public submissions and survey responses were received from State, Territory and Local Governments, industry and community representatives, urban researchers and members of the public. In addition, nearly 450 stakeholders participated in workshops across each of the eighteen major cities of Australia during the three month consultation period. The Australian Government wishes to thank those who took part in the workshops and contributed submissions and survey responses.

The written submissions received by the Department are available below. A small number of submissions were received on a confidential basis and are not included in the list.
