State of Australian Cities

State of Australian Cities 2011

The State of Australian Cities 2011 report was released by the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport on Thursday 20 October.

Not only does it build on the knowledge contained in the first report published last year, it also brings together a raft of new data that compares our cities with each other and cities internationally. State of Australian Cities 2011 provides an evidence base to support the national urban policy released earlier this year - Our Cities, Our Future - which sets out concrete steps to make our cities better places to live and work.

State of Australian Cities 2010

The State of Australian Cities 2010 report has been downloaded over half a million times since it was published in March 2010.

State of Australian Cities 2010 draws together existing data and information across a range of economic, social and environmental parameters to provide a national snapshot of the seventeen Australian cities with populations over 100 000 at the date of the 2006 Census. Since then Albury-Wodonga has reached a population over 100 000, thus increasing the list of major cities to a total of eighteen.

The report highlights emerging trends and issues to promote discussion and debate on managing growth and change in our major urban centres.
