Progress on Green Paper Initiatives

The Green Paper outlines a range of policy options and possible reforms for the future of Australia's aviation industry.

Aviation Safety Initiatives

Consumer Protection Initiatives

  • Establishment of the Aviation Access Working Group
    The Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government and the Hon Bill Shorten MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children's Services, have together established the Aviation Access Working Group (AAWG) to provide advice to government on disability access policy, the relevant legislative framework and practical measures that can be taken to improve the access to air services for people with a disability.

  • Review of Carriers' Liability and Insurance
    A discussion paper canvassing measures to improve Australia's system of carriers' liability and insurance is available for download here. The paper makes 30 preliminary findings which the public are invited to comment on. Submissions will close on 26 June 2009.

Aviation Infrastructure Initiatives

  • Quality service of monitoring of airports
    A discussion paper on improving the passenger experience through quality of service monitoring of airports considers whether changes to the current regulatory arrangements should be made. The public are invited to comment, with submissions closing on 26 June 2009.

  • Safeguards for airports and the communities around them
    The Government has released a discussion paper on the safeguarding of aviation infrastructure and invites your views on how this national risk-based policy initiative may be developed. The submission period closes on 31 July 2009.
